I visited CLAN in Aberdeen, shortly after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in September 2009. I was met by one of the volunteers, who told me about the PINK group, as she was also a member. I attended group meetings as often as I could. Everyone who attends has some personal experience of cancer, but the meetings aren’t spent talking about it, so they can be welcome distraction by providing an opportunity to socialise. When I was going through treatment it was really important for me to see people who had been through treatment for cancer and were now healthy and well and living full, active lives.
