Some Words from our Chairperson

My name is Liz and I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998, I had chemo and then a mastectomy. I was just getting my life back to normal when I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had radical surgery. I was at a very low point and just couldn’t get my head round having another cancer...

That was when I went to Clan for help. While on a therapy visit at Clan I met an old friend who suggested I come along and meet the Pink ladies...

It took courage to walk through that door but boy was I glad I did, the girls were great made me feel welcome and at ease. Over time with the girls help I regained my confidence and was starting to enjoy going out and socialising..

I am now on the Pink committee and thoroughly enjoy all the work we do to help our members in any way we can. In 2010 I was diagnosed with another cancer in my other breast and had to have another mastectomy. I needed the Pink ladies more than ever and they didn’t let me down they are a good bunch of human beings. My family and friends have been wonderful as they play their part too, but you do not like to burden them and that’s when Pink comes in you can open up with women who have been there and who understand what you are going through. They are a very up beat bunch who love a good time. I turned 60 last year and am feeling and doing grand!!!!!!

Hope to see you at one of our socials
